Learning to lead with purpose

Taking part in the Purpose Lab project has been a valuable opportunity to explore how businesses are driving positive change through purposeful practices. The sessions have given me insights into different industries, leadership approaches, and workplace cultures, helping me to understand how purpose connects directly to professional growth and inclusion.

One session that stood out was with Avanti West Coast. I learned that they are a Disability Confident Employer and hold Foundation Status for Investors in Diversity. This showed me how seriously they take their commitment to supporting employees with disabilities and long-term health conditions, not only through policies but also by fostering a genuinely positive workplace culture. As someone navigating my own challenges, this was eye-opening and encouraging, demonstrating how businesses can truly lead by example.

Through Purpose Lab, I’ve gained confidence, a stronger understanding of inclusive business practices, and a clearer vision of what purposeful leadership looks like in action. It has reinforced my belief that diversity and inclusion are not just values but essential drivers of innovation and success.

For me, the Purpose Lab has been more than just professional development – it’s an experience that has expanded my perspective and given me tools I’ll carry into my future career.
