My experience of the Purpose Lab
I've had a great time being involved in the Purpose Lab. From the first session, I saw that this isn't just another workshop; instead, it's a space where we can explore ourselves, our motivations, and ways of turning our passions into meaningful action.
Self-reflection is a key element in the Purpose Lab. Developing our own values and talents was one of the first things we did. That might seem easy, but it was refreshing to put into words what really means to us and see how it matches with our future professional or creative goals. The people running the sessions are always ready to help you without forcing responses, I personally was drawn in by how collaborative the atmosphere is.
We sometimes work in small groups, sharing ideas and problems. Seeing how different points of view may present new options I hadn't previously thought about was very interesting. Also, because the lab places a strong emphasis on real-world use, we create small projects or initiatives that reflect our goals and give us a reason to try out the ideas outside of the lab.
The focus on individual growth rather than just career planning is something else I like and the sessions push you to consider how you affect other people and those around you. All things considered, going to the Purpose Lab has influenced me. I'm encouraged to make meaningful changes in both my personal and professional life and am more conscious of my skills. I highly recommend the Purpose Lab to anyone at Solent University who wants to explore opportunities, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and take part in sessions with varying topics.
