Gregory Stafford MP Visits PGL Beyond’s Marchants Hill Centre to See Youth Development in Action

Gregory Stafford MP has visited the PGL Marchants Hill centre in Hindhead, Surrey to see first-hand how outdoor education and residential experiences are transforming opportunities for young people.

PGL Beyond, is the UK’s leading provider of educational and activity-based residential trips across the UK and Europe. As the organisation works towards B-Corp accreditation, it is placing a growing emphasis on supporting underrepresented and marginalised young people to:

  • Transition successfully from education into employment

  • Improve their mental health and wellbeing

  • Build resilience and aspiration through experience-based learning

During the visit, Gregory Stafford MP toured the 45-acre site, meeting colleagues and young participants who were taking part in a range of confidence- and team-building activities. The MP saw how the Marchants Hill centre delivers enriching experiences that help young people develop skills for life while supporting schools and communities across Surrey and North Hampshire.

PGL Beyond is a key member of the Purpose Coalition, contributing actively to its mission of breaking down barriers to opportunity. Together they are developing inclusive, measurable programmes aligned with the national Youth Agenda, ensuring that young people from priority and hard-to-reach communities have access to transformational experiences.

Speaking about the visit, Darren Hunter, Regional Operations Manager said:

“We were delighted to welcome Gregory Stafford MP to Marchants Hill to showcase how PGL Beyond is creating opportunities for young people in his constituency. These experiences make a real difference in helping young people build confidence, resilience and aspiration — qualities that will stay with them throughout their lives.”

The visit highlighted how organisations like PGL Beyond can work in partnership with policymakers to extend opportunities to even more young people, helping create the conditions for long-term positive change in local communities.
