Cost of Living Taskforce:

Our Cost of Living Taskforce is a senior employer forum convened by the Purpose Coalition to explore how business can respond to rising cost pressures in ways that support customers, colleagues and communities.

Originally launched during the height of the cost of living crisis in 2023, the Taskforce brought together leading organisations to share practical action, shape the public conversation and demonstrate how business can play a meaningful role at moments of economic pressure. We are now relaunching the Taskforce at a time when renewed global instability is creating fresh uncertainty in energy markets and placing affordability back at the centre of both business and political debate.

This new phase of the Taskforce will focus on three key areas:

  • Supporting financial resilience

Exploring how organisations can help customers and colleagues manage rising costs, build resilience and access practical support.

  • Understanding the impact on workforce participation

Examining how affordability pressures are shaping people’s ability to work, travel, train and progress, and what this means for employers across different sectors.

  • Sharing practical, customer-focused solutions

Considering how organisations are responding to rising costs for customers, including pricing, support mechanisms and access to essential services, and using the Taskforce to look at more practical actions that can be shared more widely.

The Cost of Living Taskforce is designed for organisations that want to be part of a serious, solutions-focused conversation on affordability, resilience and sharing best practice.
