The Purpose Coalition partners with GSF Car Parts to champion skills and opportunity across the automotive aftermarket
The Purpose Coalition is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with GSF Car Parts, one of the UK's leading automotive aftermarket businesses, to champion technical skills, workforce development and opportunity across the sector.
The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for the UK's skills agenda. As the Government prioritises technical education and stronger links between employers and education, there is growing recognition that businesses have a central role to play in creating pathways into skilled employment and supporting long-term economic growth.
The automotive aftermarket is a prime example. As vehicles become increasingly sophisticated, the sector requires a new generation of technicians and specialists with expertise in diagnostics, electrification and digital technologies. At the same time, thousands of young people are looking for practical routes into rewarding careers.
Through this partnership, The Purpose Coalition will work alongside GSF Car Parts to explore how employers, educators and policymakers can work together to strengthen those pathways, while demonstrating the automotive aftermarket's contribution to social mobility, local economies and the UK's future workforce.
Over the coming months, the partnership will bring together research, stakeholder engagement and policy development, culminating in the publication of a major report on the future automotive workforce.
Rt Hon Justine Greening, Chair of The Purpose Coalition, said:
"Businesses have a critical role to play in helping more people access opportunity. As the Government looks to strengthen technical education and equip people with the skills our economy needs, partnerships like this can help bridge the gap between education and employment. GSF Car Parts is already investing in its people and supporting career progression across the country. Together, we'll explore how those experiences can inform national policy and demonstrate the vital role the automotive aftermarket plays in driving opportunity, economic growth and social mobility."
Steve Horne, CEO of GSF Car Parts, said:
"The automotive aftermarket has a huge role to play in creating skilled careers and supporting economic growth, but we also need to do a better job of showing young people the opportunities our industry can offer. Every day, garages across the UK are looking for technicians, apprentices and future leaders, while talented young people are looking for practical routes into rewarding careers. Through this partnership with The Purpose Coalition, we want to explore how we can help close that gap, share what works and contribute to the wider conversation about the future of technical education and workforce development. If we get this right, it won't just benefit GSF, it will help strengthen our industry for years to come."
The partnership reflects The Purpose Coalition's commitment to working with leading employers to identify practical solutions to the UK's biggest opportunity challenges, bringing together business leadership and evidence-based policy to help more people fulfil their potential.
