MP of the Week: Sureena Brackenridge

Sureena’s strong constituency-led work on deprivation and place-based inequality makes her our pick for MP of the week.

Last week, she led a debate in Parliament on left-behind communities and made a powerful case rooted in her constituency – Wolverhampton North East, which is among the most deprived (73rd) areas in the country. She talked about growing up in the area, the loss of things like Sure Start and youth services, and the real challenges people are still facing day to day.

What stood out was how focused she was on solutions – pushing for a new £1 billion Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to support long-term, locally led investment.

She was also really clear that this isn’t about favours – just giving communities the tools they need to thrive: decent homes, jobs, safer streets, and better schools.
