MP of the Week: Natasha Irons
Natasha Irons has stood out recently for her strong advocacy for young people and social mobility in her constituency of Croydon East. She’s spoken out against local plans to cut youth services, calling the lack of consultation an “insult” to young people and families.
Irons criticised the council for excluding key voices and urged that vital services like the Youth Engagement Team be protected so that young people continue to receive the support they need.
She’s also taken the issue national, leading a House of Commons debate on long-term funding for youth services. She argued these services are essential, providing safe spaces and helping to build connections and aspirations.
Her work earned cross-party recognition and highlighted her commitment to creating opportunities for disadvantaged young people, both locally for the people of Croydon East, and nationally.
