MP of the Week: Helen Morgan
During the NHS 10 Year Plan debate, Helen gave a really grounded and constructive contribution focused on how the new plan could impact rural communities like North Shropshire, especially those facing digital exclusion.
She spoke up about concerns from her constituents who already struggle to access GPs and health services due to limited public transport and poor internet access. Her main ask was simple but important: make sure people in rural areas aren’t locked out of care just because they can’t book an appointment online or don’t have a smartphone.
It was a smart intervention – not confrontational, making sure the government’s vision for community care actually works for places that are easily overlooked. The Health Secretary even thanked her for the constructive tone and acknowledged the need to start with areas facing the greatest inequalities.
Helen’s focus on digital access and fairness stood out, it’s exactly the kind of practical, place-based leadership we like to highlight.
