Dave Doogan MP Visits PGL Beyond’s Dalguise Centre to Celebrate Youth Opportunity in Perthshire

Dave Doogan MP has visited the PGL Dalguise centre in Perthshire to see first-hand how outdoor education and residential experiences are transforming the lives of young people across Scotland.

PGL Beyond is the UK’s leading provider of educational and activity-based residential trips. As the organisation works towards B-Corp accreditation, it is placing growing emphasis on supporting underrepresented and marginalised young people to:

  • Transition successfully from education into employment

  • Improve their mental health and wellbeing

  • Build resilience and aspiration through experience-based learning

During the visit, Dave Doogan MP toured the Dalguise site, a former hunting lodge set in 50 acres of stunning Perthshire countryside, meeting staff and young participants involved in a wide range of team-building and confidence-boosting activities. The visit offered a powerful insight into how PGL Beyond helps develop essential life skills and supports schools, families, and communities across the region.

PGL Beyond is a key member of the Purpose Coalition, contributing actively to its mission to break down barriers to opportunity. Together, they are creating inclusive, measurable programmes aligned with the national Youth Agenda, ensuring young people from priority and hard-to-reach communities have access to transformational experiences.

Speaking about the visit Andrew Scanlan, Regional Operations Manager at PGL, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Dave Doogan MP to Dalguise to showcase how PGL Beyond is creating opportunities for young people in Perthshire and beyond. These experiences help build resilience, self-belief, and ambition, qualities that last a lifetime.”

The visit reinforced the role that outdoor education providers like PGL Beyond play in shaping a fairer, more inclusive society. By working in partnership with policymakers, schools, and local organisations, they are helping to ensure that all young people, regardless of background, have access to life-changing development opportunities.
