BECOME AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL CHAMPION IN YOUR CONSTITUENCY

Support your local businesses to boost social mobility and equality of opportunity.

The Purpose Coalition’s Social Scopes Framework is an innovative model developed so organisations can clearly define and manage their social impact, and ensure they are a force for good, to break down the barriers to opportunity. These Social Scopes are inspired by the Carbon Emissions Scope Model, widely used in environmental sustainability.

Organisations can use these Social Scopes to ensure they are delivering better opportunity for their people, their supply chain and the local communities they serve.

By becoming an Opportunity for All Champion in your constituency, you can show your support and backing for organisations in your constituency, and across the country to adopt the Social Scopes model, so we can break down the barriers to opportunity and boost social mobility.

SIGN UP NOW AND WE WILL:

  1. Send you a customised graphic and template release, so you can promote that you are an Opportunity for All Champion in your constituency.

  1. Get access to our Web Resources, including a template letter to send to local employers in your constituency, encouraging them to utilise the Social Scopes Model to improve social mobility.

What’s the greatest barrier to opportunity in your constituency?

The Purpose Coalition’s Breaking Down Barriers Commission has analysed every Parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom to identify the greatest barrier to opportunity in local communities.

The barriers to opportunity are split into seven categories.

Overwhelmingly the need for good quality and affordable housing is the greatest barrier to opportunity, coming top in 204 Parliamentary constituencies. The cost of energy bills is also a major concern, as the greatest barrier to 133 constituencies.

Access to educational opportunities is the greatest barrier in 89 constituencies and access to local healthcare comes top in 74 constituencies, whilst the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour is the greatest barrier in 59 constituencies, and the cost of all overall living in 11 constituencies.

Notably, in the constituencies of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves, the need for good quality and affordable housing is the greatest barrier, as it is in Conservative Leader Kemi Badenoch’s constituency.
